Ashley James
B.DES, ARIDO
Ashley has over 14 years of experience working on private residential projects. She obtained a Bachelor of Design from OCAD University where she was awarded for proficiency in the interior design program. Upon completing her studies, she worked for several award-winning architecture and interior design firms in Toronto. During this time, she further developed her skill set and became known for her discerning eye and minimalist approach to design.
How The Process Works
We begin with a complimentary consultation to learn about your project. We review the design process, deliverables, project budget and fees. Based on the scope of work we will put together a design proposal specific to your project. After committing to proceed we then take you through the following design steps…
Step 1: Information Gathering
Step one begins with a project initiation meeting in your home. Here you’ll have the chance to share more details about your project, requirements for each space, limitations, design goals and vision. Photographs and measurements of your home are taken at this time.
Step 2: Concept Development
Step two centres around design exploration. Here we work to define the concept and design direction for your project. We schedule an in-person presentation to review floor plans, materials, finishes, colors and textures.
Step 3: Technical Drawings & Specifications
Once the design concept phase is completed, we move into the working drawings. This includes detailed technical demolition and construction plans, lighting plans, elevations, details and millwork. Also included in the working drawings are the specifications for plumbing fixtures, lighting and appliances. Finishes reviewed during the Design Concept phase are finalized and incorporated into schedules.
Step 4: Tender Package & Project Management
Once the design is finalized, we prepare packages for tender. During construction we manage the entire project on your behalf. This includes communication and coordination with builders, contractors, trades and suppliers. We will also make regular site visits to answer questions and address any site discrepancies.
Step 5: Decoration & Accessorizing
Once the construction of your project has been initiated, we move into furniture design concept and selections for each room. This includes accessories, decorative lighting, floor coverings and art. We will manage the purchase of all furnishings, furniture and accessories on your behalf and coordinate delivery and installation.
